International Moving
International moves are more complicated and regulated than local or national moves and therefore require more detail.
At Quality Relocations, we prefer to discuss the specifications of your international relocation in person or via telephone.
We are providing some helpful hints when moving abroad to help your move go as smooth as possible.
We recommend that you research and confirm the electric voltage of your destination country to determine which appliances can or cannot be used.
Do not bring light bulbs, electric clocks, clocks/radios, VCRs, computers, or televisions unless you have verified that your destination has the same electric current as your original country.
For these electrical items you do ship, be sure to maintain all original receipts.
This will provide proof of ownership to customs and avoid additional duties.
Moisture and damage are the leading causes for shipping and storage damage.
When shipping, please make sure all of your items are clean and dry.
If you plan to ship musical instruments, we recommend that you visit your local music retailer to find out the proper way to clean, package and ship these instruments.

In international moves, there are also important things to NOT bring, or NOT pack with the rest of your items.
You should not bring any alcoholic beverages or firearms.
You should also avoid flammable items like matches, paint, cleaning and lighting fluids, laundry detergents, aerosols or candles.
We recommend not packing any school records, medical/dental records, or any important documents you may need as soon as you arrive in your destination country.
We also ask that you do not pack any valuable items such as furs, jewelry, trading cards.
These items are more highly susceptible to theft or damage, and we feel they are more easily handled by you.
Once you have completed all these steps, you will be that much closer to being settled in.
We ask that as soon as you arrive in your destination country, you would provide us with your telephone number(s), since this will be the communication link between you and us.
You will be notified, by telephone, of estimated arrival date of your shipped items, and whether you will need to appear at customs to complete paperwork for clearance.
This is where you begin to settle in.
At Quality Relocations, we will provide you with peace of mind that your items will arrive as soon as possible, in the best condition they could be.
We will do our best to get you settled in, to begin making your new home yours.
